Switching IT providers

Switching IT providers? We handle the handover.

We deal with your old provider on your behalf, protect every computer before their tools come off, and have it all done within 30 days. Your first month comes with a money-back guarantee.

Is it time?

Signs it's time to switch

One of these is worth a conversation with your provider. Several, and it's time to plan the move.

  • You chase them for replies, or staff have stopped asking.
  • The same problems keep coming back.
  • Nobody can say when a backup was last tested.
  • Every fix seems to come with an extra invoice.
  • An insurance form or client questionnaire stumped you both.
  • Only they hold the passwords to your systems.

Before you give notice, make sure you hold the keys

Your business should have its own administrator login for each of these, not just your provider:

  • Your domain name, registered in your business's name
  • Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
  • Your practice or business software
  • The firewall, Wi-Fi and printers
  • Your backups

The full checklist, with what to look for in your contract, is in our guide: Switching IT providers without losing a day of work.

How it works

How the switch runs

In this order, so there's never a day when nobody is watching or backing up your computers.

  1. 1Before you decide

    A free Security Check

Thirty minutes to look at your setup and the timing: your contract's notice period, any exit fee and when it renews.

  2. 2Giving notice

    We take it from there

You give notice the way your contract says. From then on we deal with your old provider on your behalf, requesting the passwords, documentation and access you're owed.

  3. 3Week one

We come in alongside your old provider

We get our own administrator access, document everything, and put our monitoring and protection on each computer before the old tools come off.

  4. 4Weeks two and three

    Backups, licenses and access move

Backups move to us and we test a restore. Licenses move if they were bought through the old provider. Your staff learn how to reach our help desk.

  5. 5Cutover day

    Your old provider's access ends

We remove their administrator accounts and remote-access tools, change every shared password and confirm it to you in writing.

  6. 6Within 30 days

    Fully protected

Every computer secured, monitored and backed up within 30 days of us getting access, or you pay nothing until it is.

Questions

About switching to us

How long does the switch take?

About a month from the day we start: a week alongside your old provider, two weeks moving backups, licenses and access, then cutover and a final check. Every computer is protected within 30 days of us getting access.

Will we pay two providers at once?

Usually for a few weeks, while your old contract's notice period runs. That overlap is what keeps someone watching and backing up your computers the whole time.

What if our old provider won't hand over the passwords?

The logins to your systems belong to your business. Ask in writing first. If they still refuse, speak to your lawyer, and we'll help you recover control directly from Microsoft, Google or your domain registrar by proving the business owns the account.

Can we switch in the middle of a contract?

Often, yes. Check the notice period, any fee for leaving early and whether it renews automatically. We can look at the timing with you on the Security Check.

Are there setup fees?

No. You pay your plan's monthly price per user, with no setup fee. On-site visits and projects are $150 an hour, quoted before we start.

What if we change our minds?

Your first month comes with a money-back guarantee: leave within 30 days for any reason and we refund it. And if you ever leave us, your passwords, documentation and data go with you.
